Frequently Asked Questions
- Does every company need a social media strategy?
o In today’s world, a lot of people go straight to social media when researching a company or to keep up to date with company information, so at least having a basic Twitter and LinkedIn page is advised, and they should at least push out news.
- How many Twitter followers is a credible amount?
o A start-up should aim to build a list of at least 200 followers to be deemed credible.
- If I were to use one social media tool, what should I use?
o Tweetdeck allows you to manage several Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn accounts from a single console. It is also a great tool for monitoring keywords on Twitter.
- What should I be doing on social media myself?
o When you start at PR, you should at the very least create a LinkedIn and Twitter account. Following journalists on Twitter is a great day to keep up with what they are covering and it is often critical in building relationships.
- I’m new to Twitter, what should I tweet personally?
o You should have your own voice. There are no strict rules, but refrain from foul language for sure. The more character you have in your tweets, the more people will find you interesting and therefore follow. If your tweets are consistently too “straight up,” it will bore people. So just be yourself J
- How do I find new people to follow?
o Tracking keywords, looking through influencer’s followers, and there are lots of blogs which you can find from Googling which will often give top 10 lists of the best bloggers on a topic. You can also use www.wefollow.com and search by tags.
